We were commissioned
to design and build this 25,000 sq. ft. steel and pre-cast concrete
structure for its anchor tenant, Puerto Rico Sales and Medical
Services, a medical equipment distributor.
One of the design objectives was to set this building apart from
conventional shopping centers, by making it a human-scale, intimate
and agreeable environment, where attention to details like appropriate
illumination, rest areas and other amenities could make visitors
feel at ease.
The strip-mall-type structure also features complete mechanical
and emergency power plant facilities, and with sufficient extra
square footage of renting space for additional income.
Although faced with several construction challenges, like the
sub-soil condition and off-site works, the project was completed
in January, 2002.
